Be a distraction.

There’s already enough going on that I don’t want to think about. I’m already aware, I don’t need a reminder.

Awareness is a beautiful thing. It means I’m open to knowing. I’m open to change.

I don’t need to sit here and think about it.

I don’t need to sit here and mull it over.

I don’t need to hold it in my awareness so that it’s up front and centre.

I see it. I’m aware. And I can leave it be.

Focusing on the problems only make it worse.

“What you focus on grows”

When you’re only looking at the problems, and stress, and how unhappy you are in certain areas of your life, and you make that the focus, you miss so much more.

Contentedly discontent.

I can live my life dissatisfied with where things are while being grateful for all the things that have happened that have led me here.

I’ve had opportunities that many won’t, and had to make choices that a lot of people wouldn’t be able to.

I’ve built a protective armour while allowing myself to remain open.

I use the things that have hurt me, that go against my wants and needs, the things that misalign with my values and I create walls and boundaries around them.

I’m not going to open them up to you just because you ask.

I don’t sit and dwell on them and hope that they will fix themselves. Things will never change that way.

I’m aware of the dark. The things that lurk in the shadows. That visit in the night. And I’m not afraid of them.

I know that I cannot make them go away by focusing on them.

I know that if I want things to change, I need to focus on the light. The areas where I feel best, and have space to move and grow.

I don’t need you to remind me of my shadows. I don’t want you in my darkness.

I want you to be an anchor to the light.

I want you to be a distraction, so, please…

Be a distraction.
